Health & Wellness Trust

Welcome to the Saint Mary’s University Health and Wellness Trust Group Benefits Plan. This plan is administered by the Saint Mary’s University Faculty Union Health and Wellness Trust.

The Trustees of our Benefits Plan have changed the third-party administrator from CBCG to the McAteer Group. We believe that we will be better served by the new administrator both in terms of efficiency and cost. We are negotiating a new contract with Canada Life. We are optimistic that the new contract will offer the same, or better benefits for similar costs.

If you experience any health plan issues, or problems with a claim, please contact:

Ms. Jaclyn Lyons, [email protected], 1-800-263-3564 or Ms. Enas Razack, [email protected], 1-800-263-3564

We hope to conclude negotiations before the end of October at the latest. At that time, we will send you details about any changes to the Plan.

R. Konopasky,

Chair, SMUFU and Life Trust

Counselling Support for Members

  • Members of the SMUFU Health and Wellness Trust who are less than 65 years of age, can obtain a prescription from a physician or psychiatrist and the cost of the prescription, less the co-pay will be covered by the plan.
  • In addition, if members see a registered psychologist, social worker, or counsellor, 75% of the costs will be covered up to $1500/year. If members do not know whom to call, then their physician is a good place to start. Other than one’s physician, public information in the form of online directories such as Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology – for psychologists, can also be helpful. http://www.nsbep.org/directory/http://www.nsbep.org/directory/
